We at Persephone Farm believe that eating fresh, locally grown food is a
healthy way to stay strong.
We believe farmers' markets and your neighborhood stores can be safe
places to shop for great food, and we salute all the Oregon markets,
retailers, and other purveyors who have exercised caution and instituted
new and even-more-thorough procedures by which to keep all of us healthy.
Growing food and feeding people is what we love to do, and there is a
beautiful abundance of food here on the farm that we would like to bring
to you, so we will continue coming to markets to serve you, safely, for
as long as it is possible for us to do so. We are tremendously fortunate
to be part of many fabulous communities who are coming together to
support each other even better.
In the meantime, the South Santiam River continues to flow (sparkling in
the brilliant sunshine this week!), native plants like Indian Plum and
Red Currant bloom and are abuzz with pollinators, leek, parsley, onion,
shallot, and many greens and cole plant seedlings emerge from their
trays in the propagation house, and the rows of fava bean and garlic
plants march onward toward a future filled with hope and promise.
Be careful, but fill your heart and your life with healthy, delicious
food, and anything else which makes you happy. Find something,
anything, to enjoy and savor. We wish all of you the best of everything
possible during these unique times.
Thank you,
Jeff, Elanor, Erin, Theo, and the entire Persephone Farm staff
